ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Fundação Getulio Vargas was born with the purpose of helping to develop Brazil. To that end, it was a pioneer in its concern with the modernization of Public Administration. FGV-EAESP has acted in the public sphere by educating generations of students and professionals. Now it is reshaping the undergraduate program to better prepare high-level professionals for the State in several government spheres, as well as to produce managers and leaders for NGOs, corporate foundations and international organizations. It is about preparing leaders equipped for great contemporary challenges, both in the national and international scenarios.
Why choose Public Administration?
- Because Brazil’s public arena is changing, becoming more dynamic, more efficient, more democratic and more attractive as a professional target for younger people;
- Because there will be great demand for qualified professionals to work for the State, in non governmental organizations, corporate foundations, social entrepreneurism and international organizations.
Where can I work?
- Public State Careers on all government levels;
- Management positions in State-owned companies and private providers of public services;
- Managing and leading third sector organizations and corporate foundations;
- As a public entrepreneur;
- As a social and political leader;
- As an international organization professional;
- As a consultant for public, national and international organizations;
- Advising companies on governmental and social responsibility issues.
What is the program like?
The program is innovative, both in content and format. It approaches fundamental contemporary issues in order to develop leaders with a broad vision of social sciences and knowledge of public management and policies, with negotiation and decision-making skills, as well as a solid ability to deal with international issues.
We intend to prepare students to have, at the same time, a humanist background and management skills by means of a multidisciplinary education with open debates, and offering immersion experiences in local, national and international contexts.
In addition to a strong academic education, the structure of the program ensures curriculum flexibility, considering the student as the main actor in the learning process. Several pedagogical methodologies are used, such as case studies, debates and workshops on contemporary issues, extra-curricular activities and field work, thus shaping an autonomous student capable of keeping up with contemporary social and professional transformations.
The program is organized in four school years with classes in the morning and workshops and extra-curricular activities in some afternoons.
